The global energy industry is undergoing a profound transformation driven by geopolitical shifts, growing demand for energy resources, the advancement of low-carbon technologies, and digitalization. Under these conditions, countries capable of ensuring reliable partnerships and the sustainable development of the energy sector are assuming an increasingly important role. Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its position through its substantial oil and gas reserves, the development of the petrochemical industry, modernization of refining capacities, expansion of gas infrastructure, and the creation of a favorable investment climate.
Against this backdrop, the 30th Anniversary Kazakhstan International Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference – KIOGE 2026, to be held in Almaty from 30 September to 2 October 2026, takes on particular significance. Over the past three decades, KIOGE has evolved far beyond a traditional industry exhibition. Today, it is a recognized international business platform that brings together representatives of government authorities, leading oil and gas operators, national companies, equipment manufacturers, EPC contractors, service providers, investors, financial institutions, and the expert community to discuss the key issues shaping the development of the energy sector in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
To date, more than 235 companies from 15 countries have confirmed their participation, including Azerbaijan, China, Germany, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Oman, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. A significant share of the exhibition will be represented by companies entering the Kazakh market for the first time, reflecting the growing international interest in the country's investment potential. Among the newcomers are ATV Kazakhstan, Terranova Kazakhstan, Corrocoat Caspian, MIS Kazakhstan, Chemelex, Beruseal Caspian, Regent KZ, Energoskan, Etus, and others. The exhibition will showcase the full spectrum of solutions for the oil and gas industry—from geological exploration, drilling, and production to transportation, refining, petrochemicals, industrial automation, digital technologies, industrial safety, environmental solutions, engineering design, and maintenance services.
KIOGE 2026 further reinforces Kazakhstan's status as one of Eurasia's key energy hubs and serves as a strategic platform for companies from the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, and Africa seeking to expand their business in Central Asia. Since gaining independence, Kazakhstan has attracted more than USD 190 billion in foreign direct investment into its oil and gas sector. By 2035, the country plans to implement dozens of major projects in oil and gas production, gas processing, petrochemicals, refinery modernization, and infrastructure development, with a total investment value amounting to tens of billions of US dollars.
Over the past three decades, Kazakhstan has become one of Eurasia's leading energy centres by delivering landmark developments at the Tengiz, Karachaganak, and Kashagan fields, modernizing its refining industry, expanding export infrastructure, and strengthening cooperation with global energy leaders.
Today, Kazakhstan is consistently implementing a new industrial strategy focused on the deep processing of hydrocarbons and the production of high-value-added products. Key projects include an integrated gas chemical complex, butadiene and PET production plants, new gas processing facilities at Kashagan, the Kalamkas-Sea – Khazar project, the expansion of the Shymkent Refinery, the construction of a new oil refinery, as well as new gas processing and petrochemical projects.
Particular attention is being paid to the development of the gas industry. Kazakhstan is establishing a legislative framework for coal chemistry development, implementing its Gas Chemical Industry Development Concept, while leading international companies—including Shell, Eni, Chevron, CNPC, and CNOOC—continue to expand their participation in gas projects. In addition, the country's refining capacity is expected to double over the next ten years. All of these developments further strengthen Kazakhstan's position as one of Central Asia's most attractive energy markets.
An integral part of the anniversary edition of KIOGE will be the international conference, which has remained one of Central Asia's most authoritative expert platforms for the oil and gas industry for the past thirty years. Every year, it serves as the venue where the industry's professional agenda is shaped, future energy sector development is discussed, new partnerships are established, and directions for the implementation of advanced technologies are defined.
In 2026, the conference will be held under the overarching theme “From Megaprojects to Market Leadership: Kazakhstan in the Global Energy Mix”, bringing together senior representatives of government authorities, national oil and gas companies, international energy corporations, the investment community, and industry associations. The programme features 12 thematic sessions with the participation of more than 700 delegates and 85 speakers from 25 countries.
The conference will open with the plenary session “Global Integration: Kazakhstan's Role in Emerging Energy Value Chains”, dedicated to the country's strategic positioning amid the formation of a new global energy architecture. The discussion will focus on the development of international technology partnerships, supply chain diversification, critical minerals, prospects for cooperation with countries across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, as well as Kazakhstan's role in ensuring a sustainable global energy balance.
The plenary discussion is expected to feature Yerlan Akkenzhenov, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye; Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF); Pedro Miras, President of the World Petroleum Council (WPC Energy); Francesco Di Salvo, Director of Oil Market Analysis at S&P Global Energy; as well as executives from KazMunayGas National Company JSC and Tengizchevroil LLP.
Technological advancement will be one of the central themes of the KIOGE 2026 business programme. The strategic session “Intelligent Upstream: From Seismic Data to the Well” and the showcase “Practical Cases of Artificial Intelligence Implementation in the Oil and Gas Industry” will focus on the digitalization of geological exploration and production, automation of industrial processes, and the practical application of artificial intelligence by leading oil and gas and technology companies.
The strategic session “Localization 2.0: Engineering, Standards, and Export” will serve as a platform for discussing the development of Kazakhstan's domestic oil and gas engineering sector, production localization, and export potential. Meanwhile, the panel session “ESG and Regulatory Frameworks – New Standards: Water, Emissions, and Sustainability” will address modern environmental requirements, sustainable finance, and the improvement of regulatory frameworks.
For the first time, the KIOGE programme will include the panel session “Nuclear Energy in the Long-Term Energy Security Strategy”, dedicated to the prospects for nuclear energy development, international cooperation, and its role in ensuring Kazakhstan's long-term energy security.
On the second day of the conference, participants will discuss the key priorities for the industry's future development. The strategic session “Gas and Gas Chemicals: A Value Creation Strategy” will address the implementation of gas processing and petrochemical projects, the development of the domestic gas market, and the expansion of export infrastructure. The strategic session “Export Logistics and the Geopolitics of Energy Routes” will focus on the development of transport corridors, diversification of oil and gas export routes, and strengthening international energy cooperation amid an evolving geopolitical landscape.
Alongside its extensive exhibition and comprehensive business programme, KIOGE traditionally provides participants with broad opportunities for bilateral meetings, identifying new customers, showcasing innovative solutions, and engaging in direct dialogue with representatives of government authorities, national operators, international oil and gas companies, EPC contractors, investment funds, and industry associations.
The anniversary edition of KIOGE is not only a milestone in the history of Kazakhstan's largest oil and gas exhibition. It is also a reflection of the thirty-year journey of an entire industry that continues to serve as one of the key drivers of the national economy and an essential component of the global energy system.
